The Brazilian has been struggling with a hamstring issue that he picked up against Newcastle earlier this month.
“Well the situation with David is that he is not yet recovered, we will see how he does in the next few weeks,” said Mikel Arteta on Tuesday morning.
“The rest are still in contention but we will have to see today how they come.”
Granit Xhaka and Pablo Mari, along with Luiz, missed Sunday’s win over West Brom but they are vying to return ahead of the trip to Stamford Bridge.
If the pair are absent, Gabriel should keep his place at centre-back and Mohamed Elneny could again start in midfield.
Gabriel Martinelli led the line against West Brom, but Alexandre Lacazette or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are likely to get the nod against Chelsea.
Arsenal predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Leno; Bellerin, Holding, Gabriel, Tierney; Partey, Elneny; Pepe, Smith Rowe, Saka; Aubameyang.
