How Man City line up against West Ham tonight

Pep Guardiola’s side have made the competition – derided in some quarters – a hallmark of their sucesss under his management. Indeed, City have won the trophy four years in a row and, even allowing for squad rotation, surely go into the game as clear favourites.

Naturally, as one of the biggest spending clubs in world football, Guardiola has a number of enviable options from which to choose even if he does look to rotate ahead of a big week.

Given West Ham’s form of late, however, it was always hard to imagine the City boss deploying a team solely made up of young players, particularly considering the respect Guardiola has shown this competition across his time in England.

Starting Manchester City XI (4-3-3): Steffen, Walker, Stones, Ake, Zinchenko, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Gundogan, Mahrez, Sterling, Palmer.
