How Man United could line-up against Leicester today

Maguire had played in every league minute in 71 games prior to United’s 3-1 win at Aston Villa, but was forced off with an ankle injury in the 78th minute.

Given the extremely tight turnaround between games – just 52 hours – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has some decisions to make, even without Maguire’s fitness concerns.

Eric Bailly came on at Villa Park and should continue to deputise, while Mason Greenwood was replaced on the hour mark so could start again.

Marcus Rashford played the full 90 minutes and could make way for Edinson Cavani – who signed a new contract on Monday – given the England international’s niggling fitness troubles this season.

The likes of Alex Telles, Juan Mata, Donny van de Beek and Nemanja Matic are available to come in for some minutes with Liverpool to come on Thursday, while youngsters Amad Diallo, Shola Shoretire and Anthony Elanga are all in contention.

Manchester United predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Henderson; Tuanzebe, Lindelof, Bailly, Telles; Matic, McTominay; Pogba, Mata, Greenwood; Cavani

Manchester United provisional squad: Henderson, De Gea, Grant, Wan-Bissaka, Williams, Lindelof, Bailly, Tuanzebe, Shaw, Telles, McTominay, Fred, Matic, Van De Beek, Mata, Pogba, Fernandes, James, Diallo, Greenwood, Rashford, Cavani
