How we expect Real Madrid to line up against Barcelona

Real Madrid will be desperate to have captain Sergio Ramos fit for this weekend’s El Clasico clash with Barcelona.

Ramos missed the start of Madrid’s Champions League campaign in midweek because of a knee injury and his absence was keenly felt as Los Blancos suffered a shock home defeat to a Covid-depleted Shakhtar Donetsk.

Zinedine Zidane took a gamble by resting the likes of Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos and Vinicius Jr. for the game.

The latter came on off the bench and scored with virtually his first touch, and all three are likely to return to the starting line-up.

Zidane remains without Eden Hazard, Dani Carvajal and Martin Odegaard because of longer-term injuries, while Mariano Diaz and Alvaro Odriozola are also unlikely to be involved.

Victory would see Real open up a significant six point gap to their rivals at this early stage of the season, though the Catalan side do have a game in hand.

Real Madrid predicted XI: Courtois, Nacho, Varane, Ramos, Mendy, Kroos, Casemiro, Modric, Vinicius Jr., Asensio, Benzema.
