How we expect Spurs to lineup against Newcastle

The forward, who has started this season well, has not played since September 16 due to an ankle issue.

“He joined us yesterday. He is totally integrated with the group. Trained well yesterday, trained well today – no pain,” said Nuno Espirito Santo.

“So it is about getting back to his highest levels of fitness, but he is on the process of it. We don’t know [if he can play against Newcastle], because first of all we have to have everybody together. Then we will assess and prepare and decide.”

Nuno must also make a late decision on Tottenham’s South American quartet – Cristian Romero, Davinson Sanchez, Emerson Royal and Giovani Lo Celso – who will only train on Saturday.

The Portuguese boss also revealed Spurs may have other fitness issues, but he would not say regarding who. On Friday night, it emerged that two unnamed players had tested positive for Covid-19.

“After the international break there are always huge issues that happen. We have problems but I will not say before the game,” he said.
