How we expect Tottenham to line up vs Manchester United

uno Espirito Santo has insisted that his squad players are threatening to oust his first XI but, in reality, his side picks itself for Saturday’s crunch game against Manchester United.

Nuno has named the same XI for the last three Premier League games and none of his fringe players likely made a strong enough case for inclusion in the Carabao Cup win over Burnley on Wednesday.

Spurs’ only fresh injury concern is winger Bryan Gil, who was forced off at Turf Moor and will be assessed after Friday afternoon’s training session.

Nuno, who has been reluctant to use his substitutes in the last three league games and had five defenders in reserve on Wednesday, so the return of Winks, Dele or both would at least increase Spurs’ options to change the game.

On the eve of United’s visit, Nuno talked-up the progress of summer signings Cristian Romero and Emerson Royal, with the South American pair set for a tough test in keeping the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho at bay.

“Two cases, clearly of players who are stepping up with games and improving in a very good way are Emerson and Cuti Romero,” he said.

“The Premier League is very demanding. They felt the impact of the competition at the beginning, now they’re settling down. That’s what we need: players who arrive and as soon as they get the right adaptation, the talent is there. It will be good for us.”
