A makeshift centre-back pairing of Jordan Henderson and Joel Matip was split up during Thursday’s 3-1 win at Tottenham as the latter suffered ankle ligament damage.
With Fabinho having joined Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez on the treatment table, youngster Nat Phillips was brought on to see out the victory.
“We got aware of the struggle of Matip with his ankle. There was no chance to play on. It’s his ankle ligaments,” Klopp told reporters.
“We have players still, but not a lot in the defensive line to be honest … it’s really incredible what’s happening there.”
Phillips is expected to line-up alongside Henderson on Sunday, with Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold either side.
James Milner played the full 90 minutes in midfield and may be relied upon again three days later, playing next to Gini Wijnaldum and Thiago Alcantara.
Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah will likely again start up front.
Liverpool predicted XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Henderson, Phillips, Robertson; Thiago, Wijnaldum, Milner; Salah, Firmino, Mane
