It has been interesting day in the Premier League’s transfer window with Manchester United edging ever closer to signing Raphael Varane.

The Real Madrid star is said to have almost agreed personal terms with the Red Devils and United are confident they will be able to wrap up the deal soon.

Revelations also came after Sunday’s pre-season friendlies including Ole Gunnar Solskjaer talking about why Jadon Sancho has not been officially announced by his club yet.

The manager said more paperwork needs to be signed before he can speak about the midfielder.

Crystal Palace have signed Marc Guehi on a five-year deal from Chelsea.

The centre-back has spent the last season and a half on loan to Cardiff City where he made 59 appearances.

He told Palace TV: “I’m very excited. It’s a great opportunity for me to come to such a big club in the Premier League. I’m really excited to get going.

“[The club is taking] a really exciting direction with the new gaffer that’s come in. A lot of good young players are here and obviously such a stable club with top players really enticed me and made me want to come.”

Andy Carroll set to leave Newcastle

Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce has said it’s time for Andy Carroll to leave the club and that talks are already underway for his departure.

The star has made just eight league starts since returning to the club in August 2019.

Bruce said: “I think Andy needs to go and play somewhere. We had that conversation a few weeks ago. You’ve also seen a change in shirt number. It’s all been very amicable.”

Carroll’s number seven shirt has been given to Joelinton.

Hudson-Odoi to be included in Coman deal

It’s understood that Chelsea are willing to throw Callum Hudson-Odoi into the deal to try and bag Kingsley Coman from Bayern Munich, report L’Equipe .

The Englishman is said to not be in manager Thomas Tuchel’s plans for next season and was rumoured to be leaving the club.

Both Chelsea and Bayern are now hopeful of signing a player-plus-cash deal but nothing has been confirmed by either club yet.
