In pictures: Cavani trains with Man United for first time ahead of PSG

Edinson Cavani has trained with his new Manchester United team-mates for the very first time.

The experienced Uruguayan forward arrived at Old Trafford on international transfer deadline day a fortnight ago, but was required to quarantine in line with Goverment regulations regarding Covid-19 after making the move from France.

With that period of mandatory isolation now complete, Cavani was free to train with the rest of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad at Carrington on Sunday in the aftermath of Saturday’s 4-1 Premier League win at Newcastle.

United travel to face Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night in their opening Champions League Group H fixture at the Parc des Princes, with Cavani no doubt keen to make his Red Devils debut against the club for whom he scored 200 goals in 301 appearances across a trophy-laden seven-year spell that ended with his release in June.

However, that game may just come a little too soon for the 33-year-old, who has not played a first-team fixture since PSG’s 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in March.

United host Chelsea in the top-flight on Saturday before RB Leipzig and Arsenal visit Old Trafford in the space of four days as Solskjaer’s side embark upon a gruelling run of fixtures.
