Injured Kane facing race against time to be fit for Arsenal derby

arry Kane could still be fit to face Arsenal in Sunday’s north London derby, despite the England captain missing Tottenham training on Wednesday through injury.

Jose Mourinho, the Tottenham manager, confirmed that Kane, Sergio Reguilon, Carlos Vinicius and Erik Lamela are all injured in a pre-match press conference held before Thursday’s Europa League clash with LASK in Austria.

“Lamela is an injury from three weeks, a month ago,” Mourinho said. “I don’t believe he has a chance for the weekend.

“Harry, Vinicius and Sergio, there is a chance for the weekend.”

Mourinho would not disclose any specifics with regards to Kane’s new injury, with the 27-year-old having played the full 90 minutes in Sunday’s goalless draw against Chelsea.

“I’m not going to tell you the nature of his injury. I think he has a good chance [to face Arsenal],” he said. “I don’t want to lie, I don’t want to hide anything in relation to is he going to play or no? I think he’s going to play. That’s my feeling is that he’s going to play.”

Toby Alderweireld did train on Wednesday after missing Sunday’s game at Stamford Bridge with a groin injury and Mourinho was hopeful the centre-half would be fit to face the Gunners.

“He has a chance [to face Arsenal], not for tomorrow, he’s not even an option, he’s not ready for tomorrow,” Mourinho said.

“But he’s doing very well and there’s a chance that he plays. But Joe [Rodon] played against Chelsea and it was not an easy first match to play and Davinson [Sanchez] will play tomorrow too so we have our options.

“So if Toby cannot play we will not cry like we did against Chelsea and it will be a chance for another one.”
