Arsenal have reportedly identified Isco as their top target ahead of the January transfer window – despite him seemingly having a soft spot for rivals Chelsea.
The Spanish playmaker has been out of favour at Real Madrid with PA reporting the Gunners are looking to hand him an escape with a loan move until the end of the season.
Mikel Arteta is keen to add a top class playmaker to his struggling side after freezing out Mesut Ozil and a temporary move for Isco could be the answer.
However, Zinedine Zidane may not let him leave, whilst Isco himself would prefer to stay in LaLiga with Sevilla keen on a deal, according to reports in Spain.
Comments made in an interview last year indicated Isco does have a desire to play in London – but not at the Emirates.
Asked by Soccer Bible which stadium he would like to play at that he hasn’t already, Isco answered: “Stamford Bridge”.
Isco has not played against Chelsea or Arsenal in his career with Los Blancos.
A loan move to Arsenal could give him chance to finally play at Stamford Bridge with the clubs due to play in West London on May 12.
Arteta was asked about their transfer plans for Isco in a press conference this week but remained tight-lipped.
He said: “The last few results won’t change our approach to the window. And obviously we can’t talk about any individual players.”
