Jack Grealish injury update as Aston Villa star continues shin recovery

Jack Grealish will be assessed again on Thursday and remains doubtful for Aston Villa’s trip to Newcastle on Friday.

The Villa captain and England ace has missed Villa’s last four matches with a shin problem.

Dean Smith’s side have won just once without their talisman, who has six Premier League goals and 10 assists this season.

Villa have failed to score in their last two matches ahead of Friday night’s trip to Newcastle.

The prospect of attacking ace Grealish,25, returning at Newcastle remains in the balance.

The star has been into Villa’s Bodymoor HQ regularly this week but has only undertaken some light training.

England boss Gareth Southgate will want Grealish fit for the internationals this month after his impressive displays in a Three Lions shirt

Villa boss Smith’s decisions are being guided by club doctors who will assess Grealish again on Thursday.

Smith may rule out Grealish from Villa’s latest game when he speaks to the press Thursday morning.

If Grealish fails to return it will also be a concern for England boss Gareth Southgate who names his squad on Thursday March 18 for the World Cup qualifiers against San Marino, Albania and Poland at the end of the month.

Grealish has five caps after bursting into the team since making his debut last September.

Villa are ninth in the Premier League but have at least one game in hand in all the teams above them.
