Jose Mourinho discovers when he will learn Tottenham fate as pressure mounts

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will reportedly wait until the end of the season before deciding on the future of Jose Mourinho.

After a positive start to the season Spurs have been disappointing in recent weeks, and have slumped to ninth position in the table, with their hopes of a top four finish fading rapidly.

This has led to Mourinho becoming the favourite to be the next Premier League manager to face the sack as the pressure grows on the Portuguese boss.

But Spurs got back to winning ways with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Wolfsberger in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 tie on Thursday.

And they also have a Carabao Cup final against Manchester City to look forward to in April.

According to ESPN Levy is willing to wait to see how things develop in the coming months, with a trophy in the cabinet known to be a priority.

It will not be cheap to sack Mourinho, either, due to the fact he has a lucrative contract at the club which runs until the summer of 2023.

It is believed it would cost Spurs an eye-watering £30m in order to sever ties with Mourinho, and Levy will no doubt be desperately hoping results improve soon in order to avoid a messy divorce.

Mourinho recently insisted he was not feeling the heat, saying: “In relation to the pressure, I don’t feel any pressure.

“I feel big responsibility, which is a completely different thing. It’s much better than pressure. It’s about responsibility, ambition and motivation, not about pressure.”

Spurs are back in action on Sunday when they take on high-flying London rivals West Ham.

They are currently six points off fourth-placed Chelsea, and will require an extremely strong end to the season if they are to get back into contention for a Champions League qualification spot.
