Jose Mourinho has garnered a reputation over the years as a manager who can be pretty tough on his players.
But he has also been known to show his more caring side when the situation demands it.
And Tottenham’s on-loan left-back Sergio Reguilon has lifted the lid on the Portuguese boss’ generous gesture towards him on Christmas Day.
And speaking to Spanish outlet AS, Reguilon explained what Mourinho did to help him enjoy his Christmas.
“I’d like you to know him the way I know him,” he said when asked about Mourinho.
“I could tell a thousand great stories. For example, on Christmas Day. He knows I’m on my own. We arrive at training on the 25th at 3pm and there’s a box in my place.
“I open it up and it’s a roast suckling pig, already cooked. He said to me ‘I know you’re alone at Christmas, and that way you don’t have to cook and you’ll eat well.’
“It’s really important for a player that he keeps an eye on how you are, away from football.”
This is not the first time Mourinho has gifted Reguilon with food.
He promised to buy the player an Iberico ham if Spurs beat Manchester City last month.
And following the 2-0 victory he went through with the deal, posting a picture of the two posing next to the meat on his Instagram page along with the caption: ‘A promise is a promise. It cost me £500 but I keep my promises.’
Mourinho and Reguilon are due to return to action on Wednesday when Spurs take on Fulham.
However, the game is at risk of being called off due to an alleged outbreak of coronavirus in the Fulham camp.
