Tuchel Previews Liverpool

They may have already broken their club record for a transfer fee, but Chelsea’s business is far from done in the summer transfer window.

The Blues signed Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan for a fee of £97million, but boss Thomas Tuchel is keen to bring in more recruits.

At the top of his shopping list is a defender, though the German is also in the market for a new central midfielder.

The title challengers also have to make decisions on destinations for their vast loan army, with Tuchel’s squad still full of outcasts.

Saul move collapses

Chelsea’s move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez is reportedly dead in the water over a failure to guarantee playing time.

The Spaniard was made available for transfer after falling down the pecking order at the Wanda Metropolitano.

With the La Liga champions having signed Rodrigo De Paul, there appears to be little place in his natural position for Saul.

That meant he was free to depart this summer, with Chelsea quickly emerging as one of the frontrunners for his signature.

But despite the Blues having agreed a fee with Atletico, 90Min report the move has collapsed after boss Thomas Tuchel was unable to give the 26-year-old assurances over playing time.

Tuchel currently possesses Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic as options in central midfield, with the three rotating regularly.

Bakayoko deal done

Tiemoue Bakayoko is set to join Serie A side AC Milan on loan

Tiemoue Bakayoko’s move to AC Milan is all but completed, though the midfielder must first meet a Chelsea demand.

The Frenchman spent last season on loan at Serie A side Napoli, where he was a regular as they just missed out on qualification for the Champions League.

According to RMC Sport, Milan have agreed a two-year loan deal that contains an obligation to buy if Bakayoko makes a set number of appearances for the Rossoneri.

The Serie A giants will pay a fee to bring Bakayoko to the San Siro for the next two campaigns, in addition to the fee agreed for the obligation to buy clause.

Before he can complete the deal though, Bakayoko must first extend his contract with Chelsea, ensuring it will expire in 2024 rather than next summer.

That is expected to be agreed quickly though, with the midfielder expected to arrive in Milan this weekend to undertake his medical.

Kounde steps up efforts to join

Jules Kounde is trying everything to leave Sevilla for Chelsea

Thomas Tuchel’s top target Jules Kounde has reportedly stepped up his efforts to leave Sevilla, making his intentions clear.

The La Liga side are currently locked in talks with Chelsea over the fee it will take for Kounde to move to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are understood to be ready to pay £43m in return for the defender, but Sevilla are holding out for closer to £60m.

That has left the two sides in a standoff, with Marca reporting that Sevilla are continuing to reject anything less than their valuation.

But Kounde is thought to be desperate to leave Spain and link up with Tuchel, causing him to attempt to force through the deal.

That attempt is pulling out of the Sevilla squad which has travelled to Elche, with Marca stating he spoke to manager Julen Lopetegui where it was decided that he was too distracted by the transfer speculation to play.
