Paul Pogba limps away from France training with injury

Manchester United players returned to training on Monday after a week off to reflect on their troubled form prior to the November international break.

The Red Devils lost 2-0 at home to Manchester City 10 days ago to leave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer teetering, with reports of a divided dressing room soon surfacing.

Time away from the club’s Carrington base does not appear to have eased the concerns of numerous players over their lack of minutes.

Many United stars are understood to feel Solskjaer has not lived up to promises he made in the summer and they are aghast he continues to stick with the same core group despite the team’s poor form.

This could have repercussions once the window opens in January and, without further ado, here is Tuesday’s Manchester United transfer round-up.

Frustrated Van de Beek set for Newcastle

Donny van de Beek has made five appearances this season

Newcastle United are the favourites to sign Donny van de Beek as a fresh report claims he is growing increasingly frustrated by his situation at Old Trafford.

The Daily Telegraph asserts the Dutchman, 24, is one of many players who feels misled by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over his role this season, during which he has made just two starts in all competitions.

Van de Beek feels he was promised a more prominent role by his manager during the summer, but this has not come about.

This may leave him with no option but to depart in search of minutes, and the Magpies are believed to be in pole position to sign him as soon as the January transfer window opens.

Rodgers “would jump” at Man Utd chance

Brendan Rodgers would leave Leicester City to take over at Manchester United without a second thought.

That is the verdict of former Chelsea ace Tony Cascarino amid reports Rodgers is house-hunting in Cheshire with a view to replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as United manager.

Brendan Rodgers is one of the leading contenders to be the next Manchester United manager

“I know Brendan would jump at the job,” Cascarino told talkSPORT . “I say, ‘I know’ – Brendan, if he was listening, would probably say, ‘How would you know?’

“But only because [of] his track record of taking on a job when it’s offered to you.

“And Leicester is not a job of the quality of Manchester United, as much as they’ve been an incredible football club, done brilliant things and have got a great squad.

“The attraction of Manchester United is way superior for any manager. That opportunity is a once in a lifetime for Brendan.

“If it isn’t [Zinedine] Zidane, because of other issues – the way he looks at the Premier League – Brendan, I think would jump here.”

Meanwhile, United chiefs are also keen on former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane and they hope Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane could lure the Frenchman to the Old Trafford dugout.
