Kane poses with trophy Arsenal fans will love as Bayern teammate breaks record

Harry Kane posed with the German equivalent of the Golden Boot before Bayern Munich’s 2-0 victory over Freiburg on Sunday.

A stellar first campaign in Germany personally for Kane saw him knock in a whopping 44 goals, 36 of them in the Bundesliga – and he unsurprisingly won the German top flight’s Torjagerkanone Award.

He was presented with the trophy before kick-off at the Allianz Arena and while the achievement isn’t to be sniffed at, the design is perhaps unfortunate for the former Tottenham hotshot.

That’s because the trophy has a cannon on it, giving it a striking resemblance to the badge of Spurs’ bitter rivals, Arsenal.

But any embarrassment Kane may have felt holding the trophy would’ve been extinguished 38 minutes into the match when he put Bayern a goal up with a penalty.

Their win was sealed on 78 minutes when Thomas Muller doubled the advantage of Bayern on what was a significant appearance for him.

Muller scored on what was his 710th appearance for the club, which is more than any player in the 124-history of Bayern.

The 34-year-old, who overtook Sepp Maier in the appearance standings, has scored 245 goals for Bayern as well as providing 269 assists ever since signing a pro deal with them in 2008.

Muller has been associated with Bayern since he was ten years old, coming through their youth ranks and later becoming a certified club legend for them.

The forward has 12 Bundesliga winners’ medals to his name and has won the DFB-Pokal (German FA Cup) on six occasions. Muller has also tasted Champions League glory twice and played a key role in Germany’s World Cup-winning campaign in 2014.

Bayern go into the international break in second spot with a maximum six points, behind early-season pacesetters Heidenheim.

Last season’s champions Bayer Leverkusen suffered their first league defeat in 43 games with a dramatic 3-2 defeat to RB Leipzig on Saturday.
