An emotional Jurgen Klopp almost broke down in tears as he explained that having fans back at Anfield gave him goosebumps.
The Liverpool manager showed his emotion as he explained that he “never knew it could feel so good” to hear You’ll Never Walk Alone sung for the first time in 270 days at the stadium.
Speaking after his side demolished Wolves with a display that sends a message to the rest of the Premier League, he said:
“When we came out for warming up we had no idea what to expect but when we came out we all had goosebumps.
“When the people saw the first player they got quite noisy and the rest of us though ‘Oh my God, that’s sounds really loud’. It was very emotional, after 10 months without that it is a wonderful wonderful sign.”
Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane did the damage with a devastating attacking display, but Klopp praised a team performance that had the 2000 fans who were allowed back into the famous old stadium something to roar about – by insisting it was close to last season’s title winning best.
“Wolves couldn’t get into the game tonight and I think that was because of the way my boys played. It was a really, good high-level performance.
“It was incredible. It was outstanding. Outstanding. Wasn’t it a perfect night? The game, the atmosphere, it was so nice.

It’s been an extremely interesting start to the season for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
They got their title defence off to a shaky start as they edged out a seven-goal thriller against Leeds, before going on to conceded seven in a hammering by Aston Villa.
Virgil van Dijk’s season was ended by injury in the 2-2 draw at Everton, leaving the title favourites looking far less secure at the back – especially with Alisson’s injury worries too.
But there’s no slowing down in what is going to be a busy campaign – with Klopp ensuring his men continue at full pace as they bid for more title glory.

“I had goosebumps. They started ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ – really nice. I never knew it could feel that good.”
“Whatever the weather was like outside, it was sunshine inside the stadium. We played really, really well, and I’m glad we could give a performance like that for the fans.
“It hasn’t been the same without them, so to have them back here, and to give them something to shout about was perfect.”
While Klopp was overjoyed as his Reds went back into second in the Premier League, Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo admitted his team were not at the races.
“It was definitely a tough night. We could have done many, many things different – before the game, during the game,” he said.
“We didn’t have enough of the ball. We didn’t deal well with the pressing of Liverpool.”
