Rangnick namechecks Klopp and Liverpool

The new Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick believes the squad he is inheriting is better than the one Klopp had when he arrived at Liverpool in 2015.

During the six years of the German’s tenure, the Reds have evolved into one of the dominant forces in English football and they have a front-foot style that makes them engaging to watch.

Speaking at his first United press conference on Friday, Rangnick made reference to work Klopp had to do with his initial group.

” If you look at the top three teams currently, they seem to be very stable and have top coaches, probably some of the best coaches in the world, and if you see how they play and how they win games in style, controlling the games, this is something we have to develop.

“When Jurgen Klopp came to Liverpool, the squad he inherited at the time was definitely not a better squad than the one I inherit here now at United.”
