Klopp hints at Jota and Firmino decision for Real Madrid vs Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has hinted that he could start both Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino when Liverpool meet Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter final on Tuesday.

The Reds travel to Madrid looking to continue a run of form that has seen them win three times on the spin either side of the international break.

Their latest victory, a comprehensive 3-0 dismantling of Arsenal saw Jota add two more goals to his tally as he continues to flourish in his first season at the club.

The former Wolves striker now has 12 goals in 14 minutes’ worth of matches, with an increased clamour for him to now be the first-choice striker.

Diogo Jota netted his 12th of the season in the win over Arsenal

Firmino returned to the starting line-up against the Gunners, but it was only after Jota joined the Brazilian that they broke their opponents’ resistance.

And the Liverpool boss hasn’t ruled out doing the same against Los Blancos as they look to avenge their defeat in the 2018 final.

Asked about playing both, Klopp joked: “You will have to wait! Did Zinedine say anything about lineups? We will see.

“But it looked good huh at Arsenal? Looked good at Man City too.”

Jamie Carragher meanwhile, believes that Jota’s impact since arriving last summer means he should be one of the first names on Klopp’s team sheet every week.

“Talking about his impact. You look at Liverpool’s forwards, I’ve been on the show earlier in the season talking about how I felt Jota should come in for Firmino, more of a goal threat,” he told Sky Sports.

“I think that basically shows it and maybe how much Liverpool have missed him since he was injured.

“But those stats show me that he has to be almost one of the first names in the team sheet because again, for how dominant Liverpool were, they still don’t have enough goascorers on the pitch.
