Lampard responds to Klopp labelling Chelsea Premier League title favourites

Frank Lampard has played down Jurgen Klopp’s claim that Chelsea are favourites to win the Premier League this season.

Liverpool boss Klopp heaped praise on the Blues last week, saying they “look like favourites” as they have the “biggest squad and great players”.

Lampard has led Chelsea to third in the table, while they have won four of their last five games during a run which has shown off their squad depth.

The Blues’ only league defeat of the season was inflicted by Liverpool, as Sadio Mane’s quick-fire double led the champions to a 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge in September.

But Lampard refuses to believe his Chelsea side are more likely candidates for the title over Liverpool or Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

“I’m not sure anyone actually went for it,” the Blues boss told Sky Sports . “Liverpool and Manchester City seem to be pretty much everyone’s favourites and rightly so with the form they have had over the past three or four years and how they have built up their squads.
