Lee Carsley has now urged Chelsea to play Noni Madueke more regularly
The forward played a starring role as the Young Lions thrashed France on Saturday night, coming off the bench to score once and assist twice in a 4-0 victory at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium.
Madueke moved to Stamford Bridge in January but has so far found regular game time hard to come by.
Omitted from Graham Potter’s squad for the Champions League, the 21-year-old has been handed just two Premier League starts since leaving PSV Eindhoven for £29m.
Still, the winger may well have put himself in contention to start Tuesday’s friendly against Croatia on Tuesday.
Chelsea have struggled for goals this season despite the vast amounts of money spent on attacking reinforcements. Potter’s side have found the back of the net on only 29 occasions, far fewer than the rest of the top ten.
Carsley believes Madueke can have a big impact on that front should he be given the chance.
“Seeing him get that goal and two assists was really pleasing,” he said.
“I think his style of play will really suit the Premier League. He’s exciting, fast, direct, and very versatile but what we have to remember is he is still young.
“He is going to need time, match minutes, the time to work on his game but he has high potential.
“Like a lot of the younger players, he just needs an opportunity. They need opportunities to show that talent and given a run of games he will be fine.”
