Leno forced to wear Arsenal away kit due to Wolves clash

rsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno had a novel sartorial experience during Sunday’s meeting with Wolves – as he was forced to wear an outfield players’ kit.

The German stepped out wearing the Gunners’ white away strip in a move that had been spotted by eagle-eyed supporters on the club’s website the day before, but which many had presumed was an error.

However, it turned out to be nothing of the sort, with both the goalkeeper’s usual black and green strips deemed to clash with the visitors, whose outfield players’ kit includes black shorts, while goalkeeper Rui Patricio also wears green.

Usually, the away team would have to change strip, but according to reports Nuno Espirito Santo’s side had not travelled with their alternative ‘keeper kit, forcing Arsenal into the switch instead.

Jimenez was treated on the pitch for ten minutes before being stretchered off and taken straight to hospital, while Luiz was able to continue, donning a blood-stained bandage.
