Liverpool’s record 5-0 win at Man Utd: Solskjaer at ‘rock bottom’

Liverpool have been put on fresh alert in the latest twist in Kingsley Coman’s contract saga.

The winger is still yet to agree terms with Bayern Munich over an extension and now appears to be edging increasingly closer towards the exit door.

Coman’s current deal is due to expire in 2023, but his high demands are proving a stumbling block in negotiations with the German club.

Bayern are keen to retain the 25-year-old but are adamant they will not be held to ransom as they look to avoid a repeat of the David Alaba situation which saw the defender depart on a free transfer.

Would Coman be a good signing for Liverpool? Have your say below.

According to Spanish publication AS, Bayern are now planning to sell Coman next summer rather than let his contract run down and lose him for nothing.

They would rather a Thiago Alcantara-style scenario play out, which saw them recoup £25m for the midfielder a year before he would become a free agent.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with Coman previously and could be tempted to enter the bidding with a cut-price offer for the Frenchman.

Manchester United have also been rumoured to be interested previously, though their recent acquisition of Jadon Sancho may have ended their search for a wide forward.

Coman remains a key player at the Allianz Arena but his demands are currently too high for Bayern, who are unwilling to meet his desired salary, believed to be in the region of €15-16million (£12.6 – 13.4m).

His agent, Pini Zahavi – recently employed by Coman – manufactured Alaba’s move to Real Madrid after Bayern refused to meet his wage demands.

Sport 1 reported back in July that Zahavi had confirmed Liverpool were interested in signing Coman.

Relations between both clubs are good from the Thiago deal, but Bayern will no doubt want a considerably higher fee than what they received for the 29-year-old, given Coman is a few years younger.

But AS’ report claimed Bayern are ‘determined’ to ship Coman out at the end of the season and that all roads are focused on his departure.

Renewing the contracts of Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka are priority over Coman, which could leave Liverpool in a perfect position to capitalise.

The Merseyside club managed to land Thiago in a structured deal, paying just a small fee up front before paying the bulk of the transfer fee later on.

However, the Reds may have to accept missing out on another of their targets if they are to land Coman’s services.

Red Bull Salzburg talent Karim Adeyemi, 19, is on Bayern’s radar and looks set to move on to bigger things in the near future.

Adeyemi was flattered by Liverpool’s interest but r ecent reports claimed he has already decided to join either Borussia Dortmund or Red Bull Leipzig in the summer.

Bayern may well have a say in the race to bring the German international home and would fancy their chances of winning the battle for his signature.

Ajax starlet Antony, 21, has also been identified by Bayern as a potential target to help fill the void left by Coman’s sale.
