Liverpool have made an impressive start to their Premier League campaign as they are unbeaten through their opening seven matches.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have secured victories over Norwich City, Burnley, Leeds and Crystal Palace, along with draws against Chelsea, Brentford and Manchester City.

The Reds have also made an impressive start to their Champions League campaign with a comeback win at home to Milan before a stunning 5-1 triumph in Porto.

While they are not currently top of the league – one point and one place behind leaders Chelsea – the performance data shows that LIverpool have been the best-performing league side in Europe this season.

This is highlighted by performance-analysis website, who rate Klopp’s team at performing at 7.07 this season – slightly ahead of Thomas Tuchel’s side, who are ranked at 7.06.

Not only are these two sides – who played out a 1-1 draw at Anfield in August – leading the way for performances in the Premier League but are also playing better than any other side in Europe.

Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich are narrowly behind with a performance rating of 7.05 through the opening weeks of the campaign with Manchester City fourth in Europe with a score of 7.0.

Pep Guardiola’s side fell to a disappointing opening day loss at Tottenham while have also drawn at home to Southampton and at Liverpool through the opening weeks of the campaign.

Paris Saint-Germain completed the top five in Europe; the Ligue 1 leaders have a score of 6.94 from the opening two months of the campaign – a recent loss at Rennes ended their 100 percent start to the league season.

There is a notable drop off between the top three Premier League sides and the rest, with West Ham fourth on a score of 6.86, just ahead of Manchester United (6.84) and Everton (6.80).

Those side rank slightly behind Serie A leaders Napoli (6.93) and La Liga pacesetters Real Madrid (6.91).

Brighton and Brentford are perhaps the two biggest stories of the Premier League campaign so far and that is reflected in the performance rankings, with the Seagulls (6.79) and the Bees (6.77) flying high in the standings.

That Wolves are next in the rankings with 6.74 despite struggling for early results suggests that Bruno Lage’s side are outperforming their results this season, while Tottenham complete the top 10 – albeit with a drop-off in performance to 6.66.

Undoubtedly the most eye-catching underperformance of the Premier League to date by the performance analysis is that of Arsenal, whose 6.55 rating is the fourth-lowest in the standings.

Mikel Arteta’s side had beaten lowly duo Norwich and Burnley 1-0 before a convincing North London derby win over Tottenham, but their underlying data in performances may suggest their early-season problems are yet to dissipate.

Unsurprisingly, basement side Norwich City – one point from seven matches – prop up the performance analysis data with a 6.43 score, with Newcastle (6.52) and Leeds United (6.55) completing the bottom three.
