Liverpool are entering a crucial stage of the season as they look to end what has been a relatively disappointing campaign so far on a high.

The Reds’ Premier League title defence has been a disaster following an awful run during the winter months but Jurgen Klopp’s side still have their eye on a top four finish and find themselves in the last eight of the Champions League.

A spectacular 3-0 win over Arsenal seems to indicate they are hitting form again at just the right time and Klopp will be hoping to use the victory is a springboard during this crunch period.

Liverpool face Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter final as they look to win the competition for a seventh time but Klopp and the club will be aware of the need to strengthen to return to the level they were previously at in recent years.

Ahead of that huge tie, one of the subplots has involved the Reds star frontman Mohamed Salah and continued speculation over his future.

The Egyptian has been linked with a move the Spanish giants with the player himself not exactly quick to rule out the possibility.

Asked about the possibility of pinching Salah from Anfield in the coming months, Real manager Zinedine Zidane was equally coy about any move for the player.

“Since he’s not our player, I’m not going to get into that,”

He added: “Salah’s not our player either, all I’m interested in is tomorrow.”

With Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Takumi Minamino all pitching up at Anfield having previously played for Red Bull Salzburg, Liverpool could again have their eye on a player at the Austrian club.

The club’s 22-year-old forward Patson Daka is the latest name to be linked with the Reds with a reported transfer fee of just £17million said to be enough to prise him away.

Zambia international Daka has scored an incredible 23 times in 19 appearances so far this campaign, including a hat-trick inside the just the first 11 minutes of his side’s 3-1 win over Sturm Graz in his most recent game.

Daka is potentially being linked with the Reds as a possible alternative to the likes of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, however, Klopp is likely to face competition from the likes of Manchester United, Everton and Arsenal according to the Star.

Another player Liverpool are set to do battle with United over is Sporting’s 18-year-old wonderkid Nuno Mendes.

The Reds have long been linked with a move for the Portuguese left-back however, the player has also caught the attention of their Premier League rivals.

According to Portuguese publication Record, United are prepared to send Alex Telles on loan to secure the youngster’s signature.

A further obstacle comes from the fact Bruno Fernandas used to play with Mendes at Sporting and is ‘pushing’ United to make a move.

Liverpool have reportedly had their eye on the player for sometime and were expected to make a formal bid when the transfer window opens in the summer.
