But a new season brings new opportunities, and the Reds’ boss will certainly be looking to bring in reinforcements to enable the team to challenge for the Premier League title once again.

Many have backed Thomas Tuchel’s side to challenge for the Premier League title next season, and the Blues are already taking steps to make that possible.

BILD journalist Christian Falk has confirmed that Mohamed Salah is on a shortlist for Tuchel, which also includes Erling Haaland and Romelu Lukaku.

It would come as a surprise to see Salah return to his former side, though concerns over the Egyptian’s long-term future have been raised.

Liverpool to miss out on Edouard

Liverpool are expected to miss out on Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard to fellow Premier League side Leicester City.

An exclusive report by TEAMtalk has explained that the Foxes are in pole position to acquire the services of the French striker due to Brendan Rodgers’ relationship with the prolific forward.

The pair worked together when Rodgers was at Celtic and could now be set for a reunion in the Premier League.

Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and West Ham are among some of the other sides reportedly interested in Edouard, who has scored 16 goals in 26 Scottish Premiership matches this campaign.

The Frenchman is officially out of contract at Celtic next summer.

Liverpool have ‘agreed terms’ with RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate, it has emerged.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano believes a deal for the French defender is very close to completion, insisting it is ‘only a matter of time’ before the player moves to Anfield.

Central defence has been a problem position for the Reds this season following long-term injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez and it remains to be seen what the future holds for Ozan Kabak.

A five-year deal for Konate is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
