Liverpool transfer round-up as fee agreed for academy star plus Grealish latest

Any hopes Liverpool had of a speculation-free transfer window appear to be fading without trace amid recent reports.

While the Reds may do some business to bring in a new defender, it is looking after their own stars which could yet prove to be the biggest headache.

The future of Georginio Wijnaldum is already up in the air with his contract no closer to being sorted, and the Dutchman is free to talk to clubs from the start of next month.

Mohamed Salah has also hit the headlines this week following claims he is unhappy at Liverpool, with both Barcelona and Real Madrid circling.

With all that in mind, here are the latest transfer rumours involving the Merseyside club.

Grealish to Anfield?

Liverpool are among the clubs eyeing Jack Grealish

Liverpool insist that they have not joined the race for Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish.

The Reds were said to be monitoring the 25-year-old midfielder as a potential replacement for Salah should the Egyptian look to seek a move elsewhere.

A Mirror Football exclusive revealed Villa are now bracing themselves for bids in January, but remain confident of keeping other clubs at bay.

However, Liverpool insist that there is no interest from them.

Divock Origi could be set to leave Liverpool

Divock Origi looks to be edging closer to the exit door after the striker removed any sign of Liverpool from his Twitter account.

The Belgian has slipped further and further down the pecking order since his Champions League heroics and has been linked with a switch to the Bundesliga.

Now Origi has added fuel to those rumours by changing his bio on the social media platform to simply: ‘Professional footballer’.

Last week it was reported Schalke would be open to swapping centre-back Ozan Kabak in exchange for Origi, in a move which would likely suit all parties.

Reds close in on academy star

Liverpool are reportedly set to sign Birmingham City youngster Calum Scanlon in a £500,000 deal.

According to The Times, both clubs have agreed that fee for the 15-year-old ahead of his proposed switch.

Scanlon can play on the left side of defence or midfield and will join up with Liverpool’s academy in Kirkby.
