Liverpool transfer round-up as Kane message sent and Martinez up for sale

Liverpool recently completed their first summer signing after agreeing terms with RB Leipzig for Ibrahima Konate.

The Reds triggered the £36million release clause to bring the young centre-back to Anfield on a long-term deal.

Jurgen Klopp will be looking to further add to his squad in the coming weeks as Liverpool look to challenge for the Premier League title once again.

Manchester City and Chelsea are considered as the two current favourites to claim next season’s title, though one or two signings around the league could well change the dynamic.

Klopp’s side will fancy their chances but may require one or two more additions over the summer.

Here are the latest Liverpool transfer rumours…

Martinez helped Inter to the Serie A title this season

Inter Milan are willing to sell striker Lautaro Martinez this summer.

The Argentinian has made a name for himself in Serie A after arriving in 2018.

Martinez has scored 40 goals in all competitions in the previous two seasons and has emerged as one of Europe’s most talented forwards at the age of 23.

Inter are looking to offload the attacker due to the club’s financial troubles, according to a report by the Guardian.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Martinez in the past and could now take advantage of the situation the Italian giants find themselves in.

Coutinho offered back to Liverpool

Barcelona have offered Philippe Coutinho to Liverpool on a free transfer.

The Brazilian playmaker left the Reds for an eye-watering £106m fee, capable of rising to £142m in add-ons.

According to Spanish publication AS , the La Liga giants still owe Liverpool £43m from Coutinho’s move to Camp Nou and are therefore exploring the possibility of letting the 28-year-old re-sign for the Reds for free in order to write off the debt.

Coutinho was a fan-favourite at Anfield during his five-year stay but has endured a difficult time at Barcelona.

Reds urged to sign Harry Kane

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge has suggested the Reds should move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane this summer.

The 27-year-old has spoken publicly about his desire to win trophies in recent weeks and looks set to try and force through a move away from Spurs.

Liverpool are not one of the clubs that have been mentioned when discussing Kane’s most likely destination, though Aldridge believes the Spurs striker should replace Roberto Firmino at Anfield.

“Then we come to Firmino, who has been struggling for so long now that we cannot say he is out of form,” he told the The Sunday World when reviewing the Reds’ season.

“When I mentioned Liverpool should try to sign Harry Kane in my column last Sunday, it was to replace Firmino because Klopp’s team create so many chances and they are just not taking enough of them.”
