After a bruising campaign which almost saw them miss out on Champions League football, however, there is plenty more to do to get the squad in fighting shape ahead of pre-season.
Jurgen Klopp has already expressed his delight at getting the Konate deal done, telling the club website: “After the problems we had with injuries in the centre-half position last season, there’s no doubt it was clear it was an area of the team we needed to strengthen… in Ibrahima we are signing a player who will add to the quality we already have here.
“His physical attributes are very impressive… I am confident we are signing a player who can play for us right away, but he is a boy of 22 years of age who has room to improve because of his massive potential.
“I know that’s something he is eager to work on with us to become an even better player. For me, that’s really exciting because I have seen how good he is already and I’m looking forward to working with him when he joins up with us in pre-season.”
Klopp will be doubly pleased if Liverpool can get the rest of their transfers done in good time. Here’s Thursday’s round-up with all the latest developments.
Ramsey speaks out amid rumours
Aaron Ramsey has spoken about his struggles at Juventus amid rumours that he could leave Turin this summer, with Liverpool among the clubs said to be interested in his services.
“It’s obviously been a very frustrating period for me,” the former Arsenal man told Sky Sports.
“Over the last couple of years I’ve picked up a few niggly injuries, which have been frustrating. I’ve not been able to get any consistency going.
“It’s been frustrating. When you arrive at a new club, you want to hit the ground running and show everybody what you can do consistently. That’s always going to be difficult when you have these little injuries.”
Asked whether he would be going back to Italy after Wales’ Euro 2020 campaign, he said: “I’m a Juventus player, yeah.”
Tielemans bides time on new deal
Youri Tielemans won’t rush into signing a new contract with Leicester, despite their intention to offer him improved terms.
Eurosport reports that he is biding his time over a potential extension and will wait until after Euro 2020 to make a decision.
Having scored an absolute thunderbolt to win the FA Cup final for the Foxes, rounding off an excellent season, Tielemans is in high demand at the moment and Liverpool are among the clubs credited with an interest in him.
Were he to impress with Belgium at the Euros this summer, his stock could rise even further
While he enjoys working under Brendan Rodgers, he doesn’t want to limit his options ahead of what could be a career-defining tournament.
Ikone interest genuine
Liverpool are still keen on signing Lille wide man Jonathan Ikone, according to Anfield Central.
Ikone, 23, made 37 appearances in Ligue 1 last term as Christophe Galtier’s side stunned Paris Saint-Germain to win the title, scoring four goals and nabbing a generous handful of assists.
While there have been premature reports that Liverpool have already bid for him, there is genuine interest on their part.
Lille are reportedly looking for €40m (£34.5m), with Liverpool exploring the possibility of paying in instalments and negotiating favourable terms on the deal.
