Liverpool fan gets Mo Salah award surprise

Liverpool suffered their first defeat of the season shortly before the international break, but with domestic duties temporarily on hold, it allows them to cool off and regroup before they take on Arsenal on Saturday.

The January transfer window is fast approaching, and although Liverpool’s side is filled with stars, injury scares to Sadio Mane and Jordan Henderson could lead to Jurgen Klopp dipping into the market to provide cover.

To make matters worse, Liverpool face losing key men at the Africa Cup of Nations, meaning that signing another attacker in January could be a priority.

The alarm bells are far from ringing, but Liverpool continue to be linked with stars, and also are facing a battle to tie some of their own players down.

Here Mirror Football take a look at all of the transfer gossip in and around Anfield, ahead of the January transfer window…

With Liverpool set to lose Mane and Mohamed Salah to the AFCON, Klopp’s side will be significantly weaker in attack and the boss could opt to sign a forward in January as cover.

According to CalcioMercato, Porto’s Luis Diaz is linked with a move and is the favourite to join up with Klopp’s side in January as the boss has been impressed with what he has seen from the Colombian and has him top of his transfer list.

Liverpool have already faced Porto in the Champions League this season, allowing Klopp to get a good look at Diaz up close and personal, and the forward has been in great form.

Diaz has nine goals in 11 league games this season, and has two goals in the Champions League, although Porto are struggling.

Ian Rush demands Mbappe

Ian Rush has urged Liverpool to try and sign Kylian Mbappe

After recently hinting that he may be leaving Paris Saint Germain this summer, Liverpool legend Ian Rush has urged his former side to try and sign Kylian Mbappe.

Rush told the Daily Mail: “I think if you look age-wise, Mbappe is absolutely flying. He would suit Liverpool. [Erling] Haaland is also scoring for fun.

“But they have to fit into Liverpool’s style of play and Mbappe would certainly do that. He is improving and will get even better.

“You can get an out-and-out goalscorer but if you don’t provide them they don’t score, but Mbappe makes goals as well as scoring them.”
