Joao Teixeira has heaped praise on Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp as he recalled the German’s arrival at Anfield in 2015.
Klopp took over after Brendan Rodgers’ sacking early in the 2015/16 season, with the Reds 10th in the Premier League and without a trophy in over three years.
He has since led Liverpool to Champions League and Premier League glory, ending the club’s 30-year wait for a league title last season.
And the Reds’ success in recent seasons will come as no surprise to former Portugal starlet Teixeira, who spent eight months working under Klopp during his first season in charge.
Recalling Klopp’s style of management, Teixeira told Portuguese outlet Record : “He’s a super confident person and a natural motivator. He conveys everything he feels. He’s very good!”
Klopp handed Teixeira his first start for Liverpool only a matter of weeks after taking over, and the attacker rewarded the selection with an assist in a 1-0 League Cup win over Bournemouth.
Teixeira went on to score his first and only goal for the Reds in the FA Cup in January 2016 before leaving for Porto at the end of the season.
The former Portugal youth international joined Liverpool’s academy in 2012 and was billed as ‘the new Deco’.

Asked whether the expectation placed on him at Anfield hampered his development, Teixeira replied: “No, because I don’t really care about that kind of thing.”
After spells at Braga and Vitoria Guimaraes, Teixeira joined Feyenoord earlier this year, where he works under former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie, now a coach with the Dutch club.
Discussing his move to the Eredivisie, Teixeira added: “They were the ones who really showed the greatest interest in me.
“It was the right choice, as it’s a great club in the Netherlands. We fight to be champions and I wanted to take a step forward.
“He’s (Van Persie’s) very sociable and always in a good mood. He does more fieldwork with forwards. He helps them a lot in terms of movements and finishing, but he’s super simple. It’s easy to communicate with him.”
