Liverpool’s secret weapon labelled “best I’ve ever seen” for displays

Liverpool loanee Harvey Elliott has been hailed by those at current club Blackburn Rovers.

The teenager is spending the year away at Ewood Park in an effort to further his development.

Elliott arrived at Anfield from Fulham having burst onto the scene and was given opportunities in the cup competitions last term.

For Blackburn though he has played a key role as they push for the play-offs in the Championship.

A senior player told Football Insider that Elliott was “the best 17-year-old I’ve ever seen” and believes he will have “unreal career”.

Elliott has scored four times in 22 outings across all competitions this term.

Former Red Stewart Downing is also a Blackburn player and has called the teenager the team’s “go-to man”.

Jurgen Klopp’s assistant Pep Lijnders was well aware of Elliott’s quality before he headed to Ewood Park.

Those at Liverpool are “not surprised” by how the youngster has settled in at his temporary home.

Lijnders said: “I miss him! I would have loved to continue working with him.

The teenager has found opportunities hard to come by at Liverpool thus far

“But it’s a good decision of course because he can play many games and he can show what he’s really about.

“I think he’s doing that, he’s impressing everyone. For us and for me, it’s not a surprise – if that’s here, there or wherever, he will surprise and show what he can bring.

“It says a lot that he didn’t need a lot of time to adapt because he has this overview, this technical level, this maturity for his age is unbelievable.

“At the same time, the constant threat of the final pass and the dribble and the shot. We miss him, to be honest, we really miss him. We wish he were here with us.”
