Tuchel coy when quizzed on Chelsea’s Lukaku links

Chelsea are closing in on a club-record deal for Romelu Lukaku as the striker prepares to return to Stamford Bridge.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel was desperate to add a prolific forward to his ranks this summer.

It means several players could depart however as Lukaku looks set to command a centre forward role meaning Tammy Abraham’s minutes will be limited.

The Englishman has been linked with clubs in the Premier League and abroad but his club’s £40m price tag is putting off potential suitors.

Nevertheless the queue for his services is growing.

Chelsea are also looking to make additions at the back as Tuchel targets a new centre-half.

These are the latest transfer rumours from west London.

Lukaku has medical in Milan ahead of move

Lukaku has completed part of his Chelsea medical as his return to west London edges closer.

The Belgian is set to leave Inter Milan after two seasons and return to the Premier League.

After a fee with the Italians was agreed Lukaku had a medical at the Colombus Clinic in Milan.

He will now fly to London to complete his switch to the European champions, who have been chasing a striker throughout the summer.

The 28-year-old will pocket around £250,000-a-week on a five-deal deal once he completes his return to Stamford Bridge.

Tammy Abraham is poised to quit the Blues

Arsenal in four-way Abraham battle

Arsenal find themselves with plenty of competition as they aim to land Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham this summer.

The Blues forward is set for the exit door with opportunities under Thomas Tuchel coming at a premium.

The Gunners are aiming to bolster their forward ranks with doubts over the future of Alexandre Lacazette.

However Chelsea are demanding £40m for the 23-year-old and have expressed no interest in a loan move.

Southampton and West Ham are both joining Arsenal in the the race for Abraham, as are Italian side Atalanta, reports the Daily Mail.

Squad reshuffle ahead of Kounde swoop

Chelsea remain keen on Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, according to ABC, and are adjusting their squad accordingly.

The Blues are close to wrapping up a club-record deal for Lukaku, but that may not be the last of their sumer business

They will aim to sell Kurt Zouma for between £20m – £30m whilst also loaning out Trevoh Chalobah, who has impressed in pre-season, to create that space.

Valencia are keen on the latter whilst West Ham have expressed a desire to sign Zouma, but their early approach for the centre-half was rejected.
