Manchester City have been linked with a host of top players ahead of the January transfer window.

Manager Pep Guardiola will be keen to strengthen a side that will finish this season without the Carabao Cup in their trophy cabinet for the first time since 2017 – meaning there will be no talk of a historic quadruple this term.

But with still plenty of other trophies still to fight for, Guardiola will be keen to ensure his side is not caught out again following their loss on penalties to West Ham after a 0-0 draw at the London Stadium.

Departures may be needed to fund moves and there could be some outgoings at the Etihad Stadium as well with the club reportedly targeting a blockbuster midfielder from Barcelona.

Here’s a round-up of all the latest Manchester City transfer headlines.

Oleksandr Zinchenko targeted

New Genoa manager Andriy Shevchenko reportedly is eyeing a swoop for City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The former Ukraine manager is said to be a fan of his countryman, who has been described as ‘ideal for the 4-3-3 the manager has in mind’ as Shevchenko sets about ringing in the changes at his new club, Sport Mediaset reports.

Shevchenko appears set to utilise his contacts throughout the footballing world and could be set to return to former clubs Chelsea to bid for Christian Pulisic, as well as going back to AC Milan for winger Samu Castillejo and talking to Vitaliy Mykolenko about a move, who plays at another former side of his, Dynamo Kiev, the report adds.

Raheem for Frenkie?

Manchester City are planning a swap deal that would see Raheem Sterling join Barcelona with Frenkie de Jong coming the other way, according to reports.

Barcelona have been repeatedly linked with Sterling, despite their financial problems, and El Nacional reports that they have asked City about his availability, as he would suit new-manager Xavi’s ideal formation.

It’s reported that while the Blues haven’t ruled out a transfer, they will not be giving him away for nothing and instead Guardiola has ‘proposed an exchange’ to president Joan Laporta.
