Pep Guardiola’s side will look to continue their fine recent run against a Villa team who continue to recover from a severe coronavirus outbreak.
City have lost eight in a row across all competitions, six of which have been in the league, to kickstart their season after a mixed start.
Another victory tonight will send City top, above title rivals Manchester United and Leicester City.
Their opponents tonight, aside from an FA Cup tie in which they fielded a youth side, have not played a match since New Year’s Day due to Covid-19 issues.
It is unclear how strong a side Villa will be able to field, but Dean Smith says those who are available are up for the task.
He said: “I’m not going to make any excuses; the players are ready to play. We are looking forward to this game and we don’t feel that we are handicapped.

The likes of Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and Ferran Torres are pushing for involvement after being left on the bench for the 4-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace at the weekend.
Confirmed teams to come in about 45 minutes.
Predicted XI: Ederson; Cancelo, Stones, Ruben Dias, Zinchenko; De Bruyne, Rodri, Gundogan; Mahrez, Jesus, Sterling
