City’s 15-game winning streak across all competitions has sent them top of the table and marked them out as favourites for the title, with defending champions Liverpool falling off the pace.
City thrashed Liverpool 4-1 at Anfield last weekend to lay down a marker that they will be the team to beat during the run-in, but face another strong side this weekend in Mourinho’s Tottenham.
Mourinho has been under pressure following a difficult run of results, with Spurs sitting eighth in the table – but there is hope. The fact that Spurs are only four points off the top four with a game in hand perhaps says more about Liverpool’s alarming form, but Champions League qualification remains a real possibility.

Spurs early team news and predicted lineup
On Friday, Jose Mourinho has questioned Gareth Bale’s midweek Instagram post and described it as a contradiction. Even if Bale is available, the Wales international will most likely have to settle for a spot on the bench against City with the fit-again Erik Lamela above him in the pecking order.
Harry Kane is expected to return to the starting XI after his substitute appearance in midweek while Serge Aurier (calf) will need to be assessed. Sergio Reguilon (muscle) and Giovani Lo Celso (hamstring) remain absent.
Predicted lineup: (4-3-3) Lloris; Aurier, Sanchez, Dier, Davies; Hojbjerg, Ndombele, Sissoko; Lamela, Son, Kane.
Man City early team news and predicted lineup
Man City expect to have defender Ruben Dias back after illness forced him to miss the midweek FA Cup win at Swansea. Midfielder Rodri is also fit after limping off in the latter stages at the Liberty Stadium.
Record goalscorer Sergio Aguero continues to build up his fitness in training after a spell out with Covid-19 but the game may come too soon. Playmaker Kevin De Bruyne and captain Fernandinho remain notable absentees.
Predicted lineup: (4-3-3) Ederson; Cancelo, Stones, Dias, Zinchenko; Bernardo Silva, Rodri, Gundogan; Mahrez, Foden, Sterling

Man City v Spurs prediction
Having seen his side concede five during the midweek FA Cup exit at Everton, Mourinho will surely go to the Etihad with an ultra-cautious approach – but such are his side’s defensive frailties that it is difficult to see how they contain a rampant City attack. City to win 3-1.
