Man City XI vs Aston Villa: Starting lineup and confirmed team news

The equation is simple for the leaders: win and the title is theirs. Liverpool host Wolves with a one-point deficit while possessing a worse goal difference, meaning a draw may also be enough for City in what would have to be a wild final day.

Unlike Villa, who drew with Burnley on Thursday, City had a free week to prepare for today’s game but are coming off the back of a draw at West Ham.

Defensive errors were prominent in that game so Pep Guardiola will be delighted to see Stones back in the starting lineup having previously ruled him out for the season. He replaces Oleksandr Zinchenko, with Kyle Walker fit enough for the bench. Ruben Dias is still out and Nathan Ake also on the bench after an ankle problem.

“We have incredible doctors and physios and they have recovered,” Guardiola said of Stones and Walker at his pre-match press conference. “They made a partial training and we will see tomorrow. It is good for us to have them back.”

Foden was left on the bench against West Ham last week and also returns today, in place of ex-Villa star Jack Grealish.

Man City XI: Ederson, Stones, Fernandinho, Laporte, Joao Cancelo, De Bruyne, Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Mahrez, Gabriel Jesus, Foden

Subs: Walker, Ake, Sterling, Gundogan, Grealish, Zinchenko, Carson, Palmer, McAtee
