Manchester City broke the British transfer record when landing Jack Grealish earlier this month, but hope to smash that again with their pursuit of Harry Kane
Manchester City got their Premier League season to a disappointing start after falling to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham.
It was a result which exposed City’s biggest weakness as Pep Guardiola goes in search of a fourth title in five years.
Without Sergio Aguero, the champions have a definite hole at centre-forward, one which Guardiola would still like to plug before the August 31 deadline.
Of course, there is only one name that fans are interested in when it comes to replacing Aguero and that is Harry Kane.
City are desperate to land the England captain in a saga that looks set to go right down to the wire.
With that in mind, here are the latest Manchester City transfer rumours:

Former Tottenham full-back Alan Hutton believes now is the right time for Kane to leave the north London club and join Man City.
Spurs have so far rebuffed any approaches from the Premier League champions and remain adamant they will keep hold of their talisman.
Chairman Daniel Levy is reportedly holding out for around £160m, with City yet to get close to that valuation.
But Hutton thinks his old club should cash in now in order to get the best value possible.
“If there is an opportunity to move, this is the right time,” Hutton told Coffee Friend. “He’s 28. If he stays another year, Tottenham won’t get the best value for him.
“He’s coming to the best years of his career. He’s in that window of, if he wants to move and for a lot of money, it’s now.”

City have a reported interest in Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, according to reports in Italy.
The Serbian international bagged 21 goals in Serie A last season and is one of the most sought after strikers in European football.
Atletico Madrid are said to be leading the way for the 21-year-old, having lodged a bid in the region of €70m plus bonuses.
Tottenham have also been linked, but according to TRR Rai (via Football Italia) , City are also keen on him.
Vlahovic has drawn comparisons with Erling Haaland in recent months with Juventus legend Alessio Tacchinardi claiming he could have a similar impact to the one made by the Norwegian at Borussia Dortmund.
“He must be signed now,” Tacchinardi told Tuttomercatoweb Radio. “Next year, he could end up producing monstrous numbers like Haaland.”
In what was a stunning twist in the summer transfer news, Cristiano Ronaldo was reportedly ‘offered’ to Man City by super-agent Jorge Mendes.
The Portuguese legend quickly came out and blasted the rumours, labelling them “disrespectful” to the clubs involved.
But according to MEN Sport, City weren’t interested in signing the Juventus superstar, keeping their full focus on Kane.
They claim that Ronaldo wouldn’t have been a definite starter in Guardiola’s line-up and the fact that he had promised to never play for Manchester United ’s rivals, the deal would always be difficult.
However, they do add that if a deal for Kane isn’t possible, there may be a temptation to pursue a deal.
