Edinson Cavani scored a header as United headed into half-time 4-0 up, but was taken off at the interval with an ankle injury.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that Cavani had to be withdrawn following a “bad tackle”, and is hoping that the striker’s ankle is not too swollen to feature on Saturday.
Should Cavani miss out, it seems likely that Anthony Martial – who replaced the veteran at half-time and went on to score twice – will lead the line for United, though he has largely struggled in a lone role up front this season.
Luke Shaw was afforded a rest for the second half against the Saints, though will almost certainly start at the weekend.
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin likely to offer the greatest attacking threat for Everton, Solskjaer may opt for Eric Bailly over Victor Lindelof at centre-back given the Ivorian’s aerial ability.
Man Utd predicted lineup (4-3-1-2): De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Bailly, Shaw; Fred, Pogba, McTominay; Fernandes; Rashford, Martial
Injury list: Edinson Cavani (ankle), Phil Jones (knee)
