Man United transfer round-up as Kane opens the door and Ajax battle for star

It may still be one month until the summer transfer window opens for Premier League clubs but the speculation is starting to really ramp up.

The summer window will open one month today, on June 9, and clubs will be able to buy players until 11pm on August 31.

Manchester United continue to improve under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but are still set to watch on enviously as local rivals City lift another Premier League crown.

United have not won the league since 2013 and with the club’s owners under increasing pressure, it looks like United might invest heavily in the summer.

Here Mirror Football looks at the latest Manchester United transfer rumours.

Harry Kane has admitted he is frustrated at Tottenham’s failure to win trophies

Kane ready to ask for move away from Spurs

Harry Kane is ready to ask Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to listen to offers for him this summer, according to reports.

Kane has spent the whole of his professional career at Spurs, apart from his loan spells, but he has made no secret of his desire to challenge for honours during his career.

And The Sun claim that whilst Kane is not expected to formally ask to leave, the England skipper will ask Levy to be ‘open to bids’, as Spurs look some way from challenging for the Premier League and Champions League at present.

Manchester United are among the clubs who are believed to have an interest in Kane and are said to be considering a move of around £90 million this summer.

Levy will be reluctant to lose his talisman to a direct rival though so a move to United or another Premier League club still appears unlikely.

Dutch champions to challenge United for rising star

Ajax are reportedly hoping to beat Manchester United to the signing of Ghana’s rising star Kamaldeen Sulemana.

That is the claim made by The Daily Mail , with reports the Dutch champions have already lodged a £10 million bid for the 19-year-old, which Nordsjælland are said to have rejected.

Sulemana is a forward with not only pace and athleticism but also vision and football intelligence.

The senior Ghana international, who can play across the frontline, has scored nine goals and created six assists in 26 appearances this season.

And his manager claims he has the potential to rival players such as the world’s most expensive player, Neymar.

“We are talking about a player with potential on a par with Neymar, and maybe even more than that, because he is even faster,” Nordsjaelland boss Flemming Pedersen told TV3 Sport.

United to double Fernandes’ money

Manchester United are willing to double Bruno Fernandes’ salary to tie the midfielder down to a new long-term contract, according to The Sun .

Fernandes has been a revelation since arriving at Old Trafford for an initial £47 million, scoring 38 goals and creating 25 assists in 75 games for the club.

The former Sporting Lisbon and Udinese man is currently on a salary worth a reported £200,000 per week and it is claimed the club are willing to double it, moving him above the current highest earner, David De Gea, who is said to be on £375,000 per week.

The Sun state United’s hierarchy plan to meet with Fernandes’ representatives before the European Championships in June.

Cavani to earn bumper pay rise if he stays

Manchester United are also set to offer Edinson Cavani a £50,000 pay rise if he signs a new one-year contract with the club, taking his salary to around £260,0000 a week.

The Sun report Cavani currently earns £210,000 per week at Old Trafford and the club are willing to increase his salary as they are desperate to keep the 34-year-old for another season.

The Uruguayan has scored 15 goals in 17 starts and 18 substitute appearances for United since joining on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.

Cavani had hoped for a move back to South America, with Boca Juniors set to offer him a route closer to home, but Solskjaer is hoping he can persuade the veteran striker to stay for another year.

Speaking earlier this week, Solskjaer said: “Sometimes I look at him and think wow, at that age I had to retire because of my knees. I wish I could keep going like he does.

“So what I say to him as well: play at the highest level as long as you can. Play and enjoy it because suddenly it is taken away and hopefully we can see him here next year.”
