The first Manchester derby of the season sees a Man United side fresh from their Champions League disappointment hosting a Man City outfit who are looking back near their best.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were knocked out of the group stages of Europe’s premier club competition after being beaten 3-2 by RB Leipzig in midweek.
United have relied on a series of epic second-half comebacks in the Premier League in recent weeks, and despite the pressure that is mounting on Solskjaer could still move into the top four with victory here.
City, meanwhile, had already booked their passage into the last-16 as group winners even before Wednesday’s dead-rubber victory over Marseille.
They, too, have the chance to move into a Champions League place with a win, but will surely have their sights set higher, looking to reel in the early season pacesetters.
Unlike some Premier League grounds, Old Trafford is still unable to host spectators, with Manchester in Tier 3 of the Government’s coronavirus restrictions, so the game will be played behind-closed-doors.

Man City team news
Pe Guardiola will resist the temptation to bring Sergio Aguero straight back into his line-up today.
Aguero made his return from injury as a substitute in the Champions League win over Marseille in midweek, but Guardiola insisted afterwards that he would not be rushing the Argentine straight back into the action from the off.
“His instinct to score will always be there. He’s had three or four training sessions and the reaction was good,” Guardiola said. “He had 25 minutes and scored a goal. Step by step.”
Man City predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Ederson; Walker, Stones, Dias, Mendy; Rodri, Gundogan; Mahrez, De Bruyne, Sterling; Jesus
Standard Sport prediction: United 1-2 City
United have relied on second-half comebacks for each of their last two Premier League wins, but left themselves too much to do against better opposition in midweek.
City are just starting to find their best form and will be desperate to compound Solskjaer’s misery, having lost both league meetings between the sides last season.
