Man United XI vs Leipzig: Team news and lineup – Pogba BENCHED

aul Pogba has been benched for Manchester United’s vital Champions League tie against RB Leipzig tonight.

If RB Leipzig beat United at the Red Bull Arena, then United’s Champions League journey will end at the group stages. However, a draw or a win for the Red Devils means they will qualify for the knockout phase of the competition after Christmas.

Solskjaer is without Fred, who is suspended following his red card in last week’s 3-1 home defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

Pogba would have been expected to start, though comments from his agent Mino Raiola – stating the midfielder is “unhappy” at Old Trafford – have come at the worst possible time for Solsksjaer, and he has opted to bench the World Cup winner in favour of Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic.

In better news for Solskjaer, David de Gea is back from injury and fit to start.

Luke Shaw is also back from a hamstring injury, and it appears as though he is on the left of a three-man defence.

Bruno Fernandes was initially rested at West Ham with this game in mind, but was needed to turn the game around – and he start, likely just behind a front two pairing of Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood.

Man Utd XI: de Gea, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, Wan-Bisaaka, McTominay, Matic, Bruno Fernandes, Alex Telles, Greenwood, Rashford

Subs: Bailly, Pogba, Mata, Grant, Lingard, James, Fosu-Mensah, Ighalo, Henderson, Williams, van de Beek, Tuanzebe
