Manchester United have been handed a boost in their long-running pursuit of Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho.

The England international has been left out of Dortmund’s latest promotional announcements for their upcoming virtual tour, in a hint that the club are anticipating a sale.

The 21-year-old is said to be on the brink of a move to Old Trafford, with personal terms on a five-year contract and agent fees already agreed from last year.

This summer, United have actively been in negotiations with the Bundesliga club regarding a transfer fee and the one outstanding issue is the precise structure of the agreement.

Whilst this potential deal has long since been viewed as a transfer saga it does finally now appear to be nearing completion and could be finalised within the coming weeks.

Dortmund have now posted a promotional video and poster for their upcoming nine-day virtual round the world tour without any sign of Sancho as one of the players.

The forward is currently involved in international duty with England at this summer’s European Championships, although it is likely that these images will have been captured several weeks ago, during the club season.

As highlighted by the Manchester Evening News, multiple United fans quickly noted this as the latest signal that a move may be imminent.

United wanted a deal for the right-sided forward a year ago and they were successful in negotiating his personal terms alongside an agreement with his agent to facilitate a deal.

Dortmund’s asking price proved to be prohibitive, as they were unwilling to back down on his £108million valuation – meaning that any deal was off the table, with no official bids launched.

Whilst the German club’s asking price this summer reportedly remains at a sizeable £85million, this represents a notable drop from last summer and could be viewed as justification for the year delay.

Sancho has scored 50 goals in 137 games for Dortmund, plus three goals in 20 caps for England – although he has featured in a solitary 10-minute substitute appearance for Gareth Southgate’s side at Euro 2020 thus far across three matches.

United are not deterred by Southgate’s apparent reluctance to utilise the star forward as they remain impressed by the player’s form at club level in Germany.

Sancho hit top form in the closing weeks of the campaign – scoring 10 goals in his last 13 appearances and a brace in each of his most recent two matches, including a double in the 4-1 DFB-Pokal Cup final win over RB Leipzig.

The right side of United’s attack has remained a long-term problem area for the squad, with Mason Greenwood – a left-footed forward who naturally plays centrally – often deployed in the position over the past 18 months.

The Camberwell-born forward progressed through Watford ’s youth system before joining Manchester City in 2015, with the club selling him to Dortmund for a fee of £10million two years later.
