Eriksen ‘choosing’ between United and Brentford

With his former club Tottenham Hotspur out of the running, Manchester United now just have to compete with Brentford for the permanent signing of Christian Eriksen this summer, with the Denmark international now reportedly ‘choosing’ between the two clubs’ contract offers.

According to Sky Sports, both clubs have made him very good offers, although United’s is thought to be more financially lucrative. It has also been suggested that Eriksen would love to work with Erik ten Hag, who is desperate to sign him alongside Frenkie de Jong.

However, the report also cites sources who say that Eriksen and his family are settled in London and have reservations about relocating to the northwest, while the midfielder also wants to start every game next season to be sure of a place in Denmark’s World Cup team later this year.

Ten Hag given Antony setback

While Frenkie de Jong remains Manchester United’s and Erik ten Hag’s primary transfer target this summer, the Dutch manager is also keen to tie up a deal for his former player Antony, who the Red Devils continue to be strongly linked to in the current transfer window.

However, although reports state that Ten Hag is really pushing for a deal for the Brazilian winger, Caught Offside have claimed that he has been given a huge setback in securing the move by the club’s hierarchy.

The report states that should United succeed in signing De Jong, then they will want to sell before purchasing another player, as they look to add to their transfer budget via the funds accumulated from player departures.

United ‘exploring’ Carrasco deal

Erik ten Hag remains keen on strengthening all areas of his Manchester United squad this summer and according to the latest reports in Spain, the Red Devils are ‘exploring’ a possible deal for Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco.

As per Spanish outlet AS, the Belgian’s release clause stands at around £51.5m and has alerted a number of other Premier League clubs including Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, meaning that United will face plenty of competition if the reports about their interest are to be believed.

Ten Hag is after a new striker this summer following the departure of Edinson Cavani and to ease the burden on Cristiano Ronaldo, but could suffice with the addition of Carrasco, who recorded six goals and six assists in 34 La Liga appearances last term.
