The man responsible for getting Manchester United starlet Amad a trial at Atalanta has claimed the 18-year-old has the potential to win a Ballon d’Or within “the next five years.”
The Ivory Coast winger made the move from Italy to Old Trafford in January and has already shown glimpses of what could be to come.
He scored his first goal for the Red Devils against AC Milan earlier this month and has impressed in each of the cameo appearances he has made so far.
Giovanni Galli first spotted Amad while he was playing for amateur Italian club Boca Barco, and could immediately see he had huge talent.
And speaking in an interview with Goal, he stated his belief that the sky is the limit for the player.
“Amad is unique,” Galli said. “But he must make himself stronger. At the same time, he must make sure he does not lose his speed, which is a quality that distinguishes him from others.
“In short, I think he has all the qualities to be a candidate for the Ballon d’Or in the next five years.”
Amad has yet to make an appearance in the Premier League, with all of his football for United so far coming in the Europa League and FA Cup.
But Galli is convinced next season could see him become one of the breakthrough stars in Europe.
“He is very young and has already made his debut in the Europa League just two months after arriving in England,” he added. “I think next year he will have more chances to stand out in the first team.
“He is a very good player, but he has to remember that talent alone is not enough. He has to work hard and become a footballer who plays for and with the team.”
