Man United and Liverpool resume their fierce rivalry today with a place in the FA Cup fifth round at stake.
The two sides met in a dour goalless Premier League draw at Anfield last weekend, but there will have to be a winner this time out at Old Trafford with no cup replays meaning extra-time and possibly a penalty shootout if it’s another stalemate after 90 minutes.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United are in fine form and sit top of the table following an excellent festive run of results, but the Norwegian is yet to prove he is capable of guiding the Red Devils through tough cup tests as manager.
As for Liverpool, the champions are stuck in a rut with Thursday night’s shock home loss to Burnley leaving Jurgen Klopp’s men six points off United in the table.
Still, Liverpool have more than enough talent to cause problems today despite a defensive injury crisis and a lack of goals up front – and the magic of the cup means League form will be forgotten for today.

It’s a cliche, but anything could happen today. United have not been at their best in cup competitions under Solskjaer, but were the better team at Anfield and will fancy their chances of going one better here.
Klopp needs a big reaction from his players after losing to Burnley, but how much have they got left in the tank?
Early Liverpool team news
Klopp should return Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino to his starting XI, though Sadio Mane could drop out.
Andy Robertson is in need of a rest, though Liverpool’s defensive worries could see that delayed.
Early Man United team news
Solskjaer is expected to name a strong line-up. Marcus Rashford should come back, alongside Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba and behind Edinson Cavani.
Scott McTominay should get the nod in midfield, though his partner’s spot is up for grabs.
