Manchester United vs Watford: FA Cup preview and prediction

anchester United will hope to bounce back from yet another semi-final defeat when they begin their latest FA Cup campaign against Watford this evening.

The hosts’ form of late has been superb, though Wednesday evening’s loss to rivals Manchester City in the last four of the Carabao Cup will have stung.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will not be expecting too many problems when Championship Watford come to town.

Manchester United vs Watford is scheduled for an 8pm GMT kick-off tonight (Saturday, January 9, 2021).

The likes of Donny van de Beek, Nemanja Matic, Mason Greenwood, Axel Tuanzebe, Daniel James and Juan Mata will all be hoping to start as Solskjaer rings the changes.

Edinson Cavani is suspended, while Marcos Rojo and Sergio Romero will not be involved as they look to secure moves away from United.

Odion Ighalo will be in the squad and hope to make an impression against his former club.

Prediction: Manchester United 2-0 Watford

United suffered a blow in their Carabao Cup semi-final but are still in a good run of form, especially against a team struggling in the second tier and finding their feet under a new manager.
