Marcelo Bielsa responds to Leeds striker Tyler Roberts being sent home by Wales

Marcelo Bielsa claims Tyler Roberts is experienced enough to know he should not have broken the rules with Wales.

Roberts, 22, was sent home by Wales, along with Hal Robson-Kanu and Rabbi Matondo, for breaking the curfew in the team hotel by staying up late.

The Leeds striker, who has won 13 caps, has apologised on social media for his mistake and Bielsa says he is old enough to know better.

Roberts is available for Leeds’ Yorkshire derby with Sheffield United at Elland Road on Saturday and Bielsa has told the former West Brom trainee he must learn from his error.

“Any player who doesn’t adhere to the rules, having already accepted them, commits an error,” said the Leeds boss.

“Errors always have consequences. Some of them are positive – not repeating the same mistakes again – and others have worse consequences as you can be sanctioned for your mistakes.

“Tyler is a player, who is close to abandoning that position of lack of experience for a player, which is a way of understanding some of the mistakes he has made.

“Surely this will help him to not make mistakes, which do not help him.

“The situation will be solved when he doesn’t commit this error again. He already received a sanction from his national team, which is an important one.

“I don’t know what the position is of their technical staff or federation and they are the people who will resolve the matter.”
