Strongman Martyn Ford has vowed to finally settle his rivalry with “useless” rival Iranian Hulk.

The British star will face bitter rival Sajad Gharibi who is branded as the ‘Iranian Hulk’ in a strongman boxing match in London on April 2.

Ford and Gharibi have planned to fight for several years and have been exchanging back-and-forth on social media with the pair set to meet in the ring.

With tension already high with over eight weeks left until the fight, Ford has vowed to make his opponent pay for his words while questioning what he will “bring to the table” in the fight.

I just want to smash his head in,” Ford told Mirror Fighting . “It won’t give me any sense of achievement or pride to win, because I genuinely don’t think he will bring anything to the table that will allow me to be proud of myself.

“You can’t feel good about beating someone up that is useless. For me this is about settling some nonsense that has gone backwards and forwards for two or three years.

“The stuff that has been said from him and his camp and his fans, so I have just got to the point where I want to fight. I am not someone who takes trolling to heart, but there is a point where he has just gone to things that are disgusting and rude. If you want to step in to the ring, I’ll step up and I have never been afraid of confrontation.

“This is not a sporting event, you can’t have an event with someone who looks like that. That’s not a sportsman at all. This fight is purely for me to shut him and the other 200,000 fans of his. Once it is done it allows me to move forward.”

Ford has planned to meet with Gharibi since 2018 when he signed for Polish MMA promotion KSW who explored the possibility of an event being staged in the cage.

However a meeting has now materialised in the boxing ring despite neither man holding experience in the boxing ring.

Ford has s poken about his desire for training in the MMA cage and has an extensive background in the sport despite never competing professionally.

The 39-year-old believes this could hand him a huge advantage over his bitter foe when they face-off at The O2 arena.

“Yeah definitely my heart is in MMA,” Ford replied when asked about his background in the sport.

“”That is what I am good at with my size and capabilities. With that comes the ability to feel the opponent and read the fight, when to explode, when to attack and when to take a breather, when to go hard and when to give them space.

That is all elements I can learn in the boxing ring, it is the same thing. These are all skills that are learned in all martial-arts.”
